Pioneer avic units anyone got one?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have my vrs now and am considering the stereo..my old car had a alpine double din screen bluetooth set up i'd also changed speakers tweeters and dynamatted the doors.

My vrs has a stream mp3 which is a bit......er...yeah....and whilst talking with the guys at bcss coulsdon where I get all my stuff done they recommended a pioneer dab bluetooth all in unit.

This all sounded great till i got the car and realised the pdc and climatronic comes up on the screen which I like..It also has maxidot.

So, the pioneer web site lists the avic units as compatible with 08 onward cars, so has anyone got one and got it to work?

Next question?

What size are the speakers etc in the doors please? I know they're riveted in so a bit of a pita to do.

Thanks in advance,

Phil

the mids in the doors are 6.5" but with work can fit 8"

tbh rivets aren't that hard. Just drill them out then using a rivet gun put them back or you can just use self tappers instead

Thought about a Columbus or Bolero, these are perfectly capable units, and sound just fine if you upgrade the speakers.

usless if you want to add an amp though unless you spend massive amount on processors like the Audison Bit 10 or JL cleansweep

I did think about the skoda units, is it the amundsen+ that has dab as well?

I still have my alpine double din so would have to wait to sell it if I went that route.

I can get some trade in at the store.

If I didnt get the avic units, would I lose all pdc climatronic stuff?

Or would it just be the pdc on screen display as the climatronic is ok to lose really off the screen.
