joms issues...irritating now!

Featured Replies

hi guys. had my coilovers since around august last year.

it has always done it but its getting very annoying now..it seems to be the drivers side mainly but when i turn the wheel when leaving my driveway it makes a rather loud twanging sound? and also the same sound comes from going over harsh bumps and speedbumps sometimes.

it sounds like the spring is hitting itself and this is making the twanging. however can drop links cause this problem? and i cant work out why its only the drivers side.

i ahve had them apart and checked the internal nut and loctite'd it up so its not that. any suggestions?

Mine does it too, the MOT tester said that its something catching on the subframe because the car is too low. Mines not even THAT low.

It's

N/S/F and O/S/F suspension arms foul on the subframe due to the vehicles lowered suspension.

That's what it says on my MOT.

wouldnt this only be if you hadnt fitted shortened drop links? i have mondeo drop links on mine. i wondered if cheap drop links could be a cause? but im getting frustrated with it now wish id gone with eibach springs haha :D

That would be the ARB wouldn't it?

I assume by the suspension arm he means the lower wishbone catching on the subframe?

Cheap drop links won't be the cause mate most of us on here run cheap ford ones.

I'm running pretty low on KW's and don't have this issues.

Nobody seemed to have the same issues when I asked either :(

MOT bloke told me to take some off with a grinder.

yeh its a pain..ivd had a look online for twanging noises with coilovers and people are suggesting that the top mounts need greasing up? i replaced mine with new ones when i did my coilovers.

anyone know the best way to go about this? i have some white grease just need to know what area to attack! :D
