One for Clunk-Click Nick,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

,,,,,,or anyone else familiar with BT t'Internets practices.

Over the past week or so, download speeds have dropped to < 1 Mb/s. Woeful IMO, not fast enough to watch iPlayer smoothly, Youtube is jumpy and Redtube times out ;) I'm supposed to get 'upto' 20Mb/s, thought the average is nearer 6Mb/s.

Called up and had a whinge today to 'Sonia', or was it Sunita? I forget now  Anyway, upshot is my line needs 'reprofiling' whatever that is. A quick Google said it's because of noise on the line. If I was a conspiracy theorist,,,,,,,,,;) I'd make up some nonsense about BT's dodgy practices. As I'm not, I just wondered if any techs here knew what 'reprofiling' was and what can cause a line to be reprofiled?

Many thanks :bandit:

What's most likely happened is due to bad weather the noise on your line has increased causing your line to become unstable at some point, the BT dynamic line management system (RAMBO) has set your line to require a higher SNR to sync to try to stabilise the line. It's a totally pants system BT have but she's telling the truth it should sort it.

Thanks, Wap. Hub reset itself several times last night. Now back up to a measly 5.5 Mb down and ~ .6 up.
