xenons do not self level anymore

Featured Replies

I recently had an accident which meant one of my xenon headlights were replaced, but on receiving the car back , i noticed on ignition my xenon's do not go calibrate like they used to, they used to go up and down, but do not now at all. ( or coming to think of it did they only do it when dark?)

i have checked the leveling fuse that was fine, have they forgot to connect something up, both headlights no longer calibrate.

check with vag com my R 36 was the same when I bought it a box was not ticked. It did not show up a fault

Had a similar thing last week when I had work done on the Lower arms. The front level sensor had been disconnected (and reconnected) to do the work, but I noticed the Xenon's were not self levelling when I got it back.

Plugged in VCDS and there was a fault code to do with Xenon calibration.......recalibrated it and it's all fixed.

So you need to get VCDS plugged in and see what's going on...the garage that fixed the car should really have checked this.

did they put xenons on the car when they replaced them.

Cheers booke23, I will see if I can get my mechanic to give it a once over in the morning, they want to take it back off me Thursday and give me a Fabia HTP again which I have had for over a week and they are horrible!

-yes they replaced the ns/f headlight with a new unit, the xenons and wash work fine there is just no levelling action going on,

although my OCD is going haywire as I have a shiny new headlight unit and a very slightlly faded one the other side

Yeah that would annoy me!.......the light output of a HID bulb very gradually decreases with age....you don't notice it until you replace one and see the difference!

I did a scan with VCDS and fault clear for someone who had this problem and that cured it. No idea what caused it, and didnt save a log as the reset cured it.
