Headlight Polish

Featured Replies

Hi all

My Fabia has had a new headlight in the past and looking at it from a distance it liiked stupid. One headlight was very clear and the other was glazed and slightly yellowing.

I was looking at buying a sit on new headlight and then I come across clips on youtube showing tootpaste applied to headlights. I dont normally believe the tripe but it does make a big improvement. A cutting compound would probably do it but the mrs whiteninng toosthpaste was free  !! Its not quite brand new looking but a vast improvement and has gone really clear. Plus it smells minty fresh!

Will put up a couple of before and after pics if I get the chance.

I've done a few bits of headlight restoring. But I use clay, wet & dry (various grades) and a machine polisher to bring them up nice. :)

Interesting procedure and I am sure it will have done something to your Head Lamps but as Jason has said, a cutting compound polish may be a little more effective.......... :)

Believe it or not Skyline owners swear by using toothpaste for cleaning lights, it leaves them minty fresh as well

As Baker said any abrasive polish will do it but in my experience once plastic lenses have gone once you'll need to do them on a regular basis
