Subframes?!

Featured Replies

Are all mk1 fabia seat subframes the same or do i need to have vrs ones?!!

All the subframes are the same - at least the manner/design to which they bolt to the floor is the same.

As Jase says the subframes which attach them to the cars are all the same

There may be some differences in the bases though (the arse shaped bit)

My Recaro's are fitted on to bases from a Y reg classic and are missing the metal bolster bracing which was welded to the Golf bases.

Fabia VRS Seats have a similar metal bar you can feel it if you push down on the sides of the seat bases but apparently it's not welded to the base but affixed to the foam.

In my opinion it feels more solid than that but I haven;t taken apart my VRS seats to find out.

So i can take some base model frames and chuck them on the bottom of these tt seats? Someones welded 6N polo frames to them you see..

I'd just take the foam off the TT/Polo hybrid frames you have and transfer it all to the complete intact Fabia frames.

Much easier then cutting both your donors and Fabia bits in half and welding them together into a set - which'll only create bases exactly the same as the Fabia ones anyways!

If there is exta bracing bars in the TT bases that aren't in your Fabia ones you can cut those off and weld them if you have to

But someones already chopped everything off anyway and welded just 6n bases?

Hmmm:/

Ok but why potentially weaken your Fabia ones by also chopping and welding them?

Why not just use them complete as they came out of the factory but with different foam on?
