Ok, my ps3 has decided it doesnt like any of my game discs. Blu ray, dvd and cd all play fine though.

When inserting a game it can be heard spinning up but does not appear on the xmb to play.

System is an original 60 gig running 4.31 software.

My original 60gb had this same problem. Laser as already mentioned. Mine was still under warranty so got sorted for free luckily.

Cheers guys, found a support site saying factory reset and re update as possible corruption issues which im trying now. If that doesnt work ill look into a new lader.

Your lucky if your on your original 60gb unit mine gave up the ghost a few years back now with the YLOD,

i reflowed it and sold it for more than i paid for it though and bought a new slim. While reflowing the board

i took the laser to bits to get a stuck disc out. Its a mare putting it back together as the mechanism locks

when you open it up. However i got it back together in the end and it worked fine. To do a straightforward

swap of the laser drive its very easy almost plug and play. If you get a second hand one of ebay you might

luck out and get a £30 game inside like i have before.

No pint in getting a new one now the ps4 is due to be announced and most likely there will be thousands of ps3's flocking eBay
