can anyone recomend a decent specialist in the teesside area to do a timing belt and water pump replacement on my 05 vrs.

I had mine done at the main dealer (Silbury Skoda) as they were competitive on price. Might be worth an ask at the nearest one to you?

If you don't mind driving north a bit Swift Motor Engineering in Newcastle are excellent.
