snap.do suddenly taking over Chrome

Featured Replies

I have just found that 'search.snap.do' is taking over my browser (Chrome). I have deleted it as a default page and removed it from the search options, even uninstalled the browser and reinstalled but it keeps coming back and when I open up a new tab there it is!!!!!

Anyone know why this has suddenly happened and how I get rid of it?

I have run a quick scan of the machine (all clear) and am about to run a full scan.

Thanks for the links. Read through them but they seem to have changed their method as I didn't have any toolbar installed. Spotted a couple of odd names i the program list though and on uninstalling them it seems to have solved the issue. Full scan with antivirus and malwarebytes didn't show up an issue. Spybot did highlight one of the programmes though.

What av do you have?

Just running MS Essentials for now. I have been considering putting somethin else on but various people I have spoken to thought essentials was sufficient. Not sure whether the install of the snap.do was malicious or just be being stupid and clicking okay to something I didn't fully understand.
