VW 505.00 in engine without DPF

Could some one help me with an oil question.

The local Motor Factor has sold me VW 505.00 in the past, after checking I should have been using VW507.00 because there is no DPF on my car.

My question is will this have caused any problems ?

PS. I know the VW507.00 is the long life stuff but I can't fine the normal oil for my car.

its common practice to now use longlife oil regardless of service regime as it is a better quality oil. Using the 505 should have no ill effects since you have no DPF.

505.00 is fine on non-DPF diesel's.

Any DPF equipped car needs the 507.00 as a minimum.

Personally I'd use 507.00 - DPF or no DPF.

VW 505.01 oil

The oils in this section meet the VW 505.01 specification. These oils are especially for "Pumpe-Düse" (unit injector or "PD" engines) running on fixed service intervals (15,000km / 12 months).

It is vitally important to use an oil meeting either this, the VW 506.01 specification or the VW 507.00 specification to avoid damaging the diesel pump in PD engines.

For PD engined cars with a DPF, use only an oil meeting the VW 507.00 specification.

Thought it may have gunked up the turbo

I toped up my 2.0 cr vrs with 505.00 the other day was only a small amount. Would this cause any damage? Was some oil left from my 1.9 tdi leon.

I wouldn't be losing any sleep.

As long as it wasn't more than a couple of glugs!

I know if you are on variable servicing on a PD engine (so have 507 oil in it), you can top up with a maximum of 0.5 Litres of 505 oil without coming off variable servicing.

But as your car has a DPF, I'm not sure this applies. Perhaps there is some guidance on the matter in your hand book.

I had customer in today who has been topping up his Mazda using the wrong oil. His dpf light was on and I had to flush and do forced regen,

I only done it the once. Ant planing on it again. Next time gona use correct oil.

On a Mazda I don't reckon the type of oil makes much difference :giggle:

We think we have DPF issues in the VAG fold, the Mazda 6 is woefully bad even with the right oil!
