Alarm keeps going off help!

Featured Replies

Hi just wondering if anyone can help. I've got a fabia vrs se only recently the alarm keeps going off around 1am-5am it's getting on my nerves! I also discovered I have the door leak issue (ill get round to fix it tis week) and I'm getting a fair bit of moisture in the car and ice on the inside do you think this could be setting the alarm off? Is there anyway I can disable it just until I dry the car out? Any help would be fantastic cheers.

Anyone?

From memory (I don't have a VRS or alarm) you should be able to turn off the interior sensors from the fob with a double press but that also knocks off the deadlocks. If it still goes off then fuse 60 should do the job. Scan it with VCDS if you can as this may suggest the root cause.

Ok cheers for the advice. I've deadlocked before so I'm not sure it's that. Sometimes the drivers side door won't lock when pressing the fob. I'm still thinking its the moisture build up but ill tackle that tomorrow. Ill try and remove fuse 60 if it goes off again tonight I'm sure the neighbours are getting sick of it!

Double check that your bonnet is down properly, this was the cause of my alarm going off. Fixed by lifting up the catch so it shut properly ;)

Thanks ill try that!

if you take out the interior light isnt there a switch to make the alarm more or less sensative? sure i read it somewhere ??

It's just gone off again! Bloody thing! I've just removed fuse 60 see if that works. It's strange that its only doing at night and not during the day???

Really can't get to the bottom of this. Checked all door/boot/bonet catches and wd-40. I'm currently fixing the rear door water leaks. Only thing would my drivers door not locking using the fob cause the problem?

Leave it unlocked... its a skoda, no-one is gonna pinch it! :) I left the keys in the door of my occy all night on a housing estate in colchester where you need to wear a flak jacket to go buy milk.... still there in the morning! Even 11 year old joyriders dont want it!

Assuming the sensor isn't faulty (get it vagcommed to see a.whats triggering the alarm

and b. whether the system is detecting a fault with the sensors)

then I reckon the cold snap may contributing to the false alarms

How new is your battery? Your false alarms may be caused by

the system sensing voltage drop when it gets cold and dark?

The battery is fairly new only changed a month or so ago along with the new alternator. Hoping I can get the carpets dry over the wk end. If it goes off again tonight ill remove fuse 60 again and get it vagcom next week cheers for the replys.

It's just started going off again not done it all day as soon as the sun goes down it seems to be going off I've removed the fuse for now. I can only think its one of two things.

1. The moisture left in the car.

2. The drivers side door not locking on the fob.

IIRC, this used to be a problem related to bonnet sensors which was mainly prevalent in the colder months (something to do with contraction, maybe?).

When the car is unlocked and the alarm has been triggered, don't the lights flash in a certain way to tell you why? I'm sure I read that in my handbook somewhere (unless I'm getting my cars mixed up).

VAGCOM should be able to tell you the cause though - £7 on eBay for a cable, the free version of VCDS/VAGCOM and off you go.

Not sure can't say I've noticed a certain pattern. Unfortunately the bonnet handle in the car has come off so ill need to replace that haha! Ill look at getting the cable. I have a mate who has a diagnostic tool (snap on iirc) will that give me the cause of alarm?

Worth trying I guess. I can't remember 100%, but I think my Polo lists what causes the alarm to go off, but I'm not sure the snapon what pick that up. If a sensor is dead and throwing a code up, then I'd expect the S-O to get it.
