Projector headlights

Featured Replies

Can you get these for the Octy?

Cheers.

eBay.

On eBay search for "Depo Octavia" thats who makes the aftermarket projectors for oem look

Only thing with Depo lamps, is that they are just a bare body, no bulbs, level motors or ignitor packs, but then they are a lot cheaper.

If you are prepared to do a little work to fit them they are worth the effort.

So an aftermarket HID kit wouldnt work in them?

How does the high beam work?

yeh after market hids work. i have hids in my fogs and dipped. main beam is just a h7 from memory. just use the loom of your old lights and add and extra earth wire for your main beam bulb. simple tbh. see "gees RS Estate" thread and its all in there

on the depo ones, fog is h3, dipped is ds2 (hid), Full beam h1

Resurrecting this topic

Can anyone tell me if this is suitable for my 2002 Octavia Ambiente ebay part number 350709802595 Link* http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350709802595

Mine has the front fog lamp but I'd rather have hid's to be honest

If this is the correct headlamp, I'm assuming one of the "projector" lenses is for the fog lamp?

If so what happens to the indicator?

Or if it isnt right can anyone show the the right one please? and again if it doesn't have the fog bulb in it, do I just put an aftermarket fog lamp by the bumper or what?

Sorry for so many questions

Lewis

Appears ok, vant read description as page wont load properly. The indicators are a seperate lamp so you would use existing

ah right> i thought the indicators were built into the headlamp

(not been outside today to look at it)

I take it that you already have xenons on the car that you are replacing this lamp with?, as otherwise they are just a stripped unit, no hardware to run the lamp at all, you swap it over from the original lamp. I know it is a stupid question, but someone has to ask it before we all assume you have them fitted already. :)

I was going to ask that question once I knew they were what I was after :)

I don't have HID's at the moment, what else would I need

Obviously ballasts, and the right cable conversion to make them fit my plugs

I'm assuming I would need the ballast (ignitor unit)? 1U0941641

and I probably need the control unit for the HID's 1U0941651

Anything else I'd need?

Depends how you want to do the conversion.

I have done with with OEM housings, an aftermarket D2S HID kit and modifications to the wiring harness from inside the halogen housings as the plug unclips from the back of the lamp.

The next problem is the leveling motors as the halogen are 3 wire and xenon are 4 and they are physically different in size and shape, so you can't just swap them over. I made a mounting plate which picked up in the screw holes for the OEM ignitor inside the lamp allowing me to attach the motor to its underside and connect to the little black are which I unscrewed from the halogen lamp and mounted inside the xenon.
