Airbag light

Featured Replies

Hi, the airbag light has lit up the dash of my octavia 07 2.0 tdi elegance, the fault codes indicate its the passenger side seat airbag, however my car is used as a taxi and does not have the standard seat in it,in fact it has a crappy swivel seat with no airbag in it.

The garage i use have checked all the wires under the seat and cant find any damaged wires etc. They have tried clearing the fault codes with vcds but the airbag light is still on They've suggested calling in an auto electrician to get to the bottom of it but if anyone can offer any ideas as to what could be the problem i would be grateful

it might not be the airbag its self but other parts of the airbag system such as the igniter etc

How is it plugged in if there is no airbag? The plug goes directly into the airbag its self

hi, thanks for replying

one of the fault codes mentions the igniter and the seat wires arnt plugged in to anything, the mechanic has tried to reset it but the light still illuminates

Is this a recent modification?

I don't know why you haven't been getting airbag warnings before now, if the plug isn't plugged into anything.....unless the passenger side airbags had been deactivated using the key in the glovebox.

the light should be on all the time anyway then if its not plugged in. Everytime the car starts it will throw up an error showing the airbag resistance being too high (no circuit as its not plugged in)
