New Mk1 Octy Vrs owner-A few questions...

Featured Replies

Hey guys im new to the octy section just sold the mk1 fabia vrs and got myself a standard mk1 05 octavia vrs ...

Must say ive always wanted one and im deffo not disappointed! The car runs very nice drives smooth and pulls nice and hard and feels tight too.

Only a few small niggles id say,

-rear pass door lock doesnt work properly with the central locking

-one of the number plate bulb holders has fallen through so cant get to it to change it to an led! Lol..

-sometimes , at idle the engine makes a small tapping sound, it isnt very loud at all but you hear it at idle with all music off...

Any suggeations on how to tackle any of these problems guys?

I look forward to doing loads of bits n bobs to the octy so would love to hear some suggestions also on mods, tips and upgrdes...

Will start my own story in the relevent section soon as i get some pics in the daylight!

Thanks in advance peeps!

Rear lock could be something as simple as a connector or worst case new mechanism. The tapping is probably the charcoal canister. It's situated on the inner wing offside between strut top and washer bottle. They all do it to some degree. As for upgrades check out my build thread. All depends how far you want to go ?

As above for 2 of the issues, for the plate light just take off the cover inside the boot to access from the rear

yup easiest way, as those screws often corrode on the outside of the number plate holder

Be prepared for hours of fun trying to get it back on right lol

I ended up putting a ltitle bit of araldite on the clips....it kept falling off. Not so much that I won't be able to remove it in future should I need to!

Thanks for the info guys, gonna get the inner boot cover off in the morning get it all sorted, also see what trouble lies behind the rear door card suspect it to be the lock mechanism.

As for the noise i think it may be coming from the tensioner for the cambelt which is worrying but then again i may be wrong either way gonna get it to the local garage and checked.

Looking to do a quick service so will be getting parts in for that in the morning too :D

Bagged myself a forge recirc dumpy not sure exactly which one but will be going on soon as it arrives. Still on the hunt for a lcr splitter might just give in and go seat dealer!

My thread coming soon!

Thanks for the help guys!
