Is 2001 Polo Worst Handling Car Ever?

Featured Replies

I've been using a 2001 Polo TDi for a little while, it's our second car, problem is it handles really badly. The suspension is soft but doesn't smooth out bumps, (the Furby vRS does it better), and on the motorway it would best be described as a bit unstable, bouncy and generally horrible. There's nothing wrong with it, had it from new and always been rubbish, except for the 60 MPG.

Are all Polo's this bad, what went wrong?

Is it the latest shape one?

My dad has a Polo TDI Sport PD100, and the suspension on that is definitely much firmer than the vRS and it handles better, no comparison at all TBH...

No, it's the previous one, with the standard suspension 'cause it's an SE.

You just love furby vRS's dont you! Did you get sodomised by one or something? :P

No, its just a plain hard fact mate.

Drive one for yourself, and you'll see what I mean.

And to answer your question, yes I do like the Furby vRS, but you have to admit, theres room for improvement.

same for all though, non?

And that was meant to be an improvement on the pre-facelift model.

I used to have one (SE spec too) and have to admit the Furby is a much better drive. Thought the ride on the Polo was pretty good though, even if it wasn't exactly a fun sporty car in the twisties.
