Aftermarket radio owners

Featured Replies

Having taken my headunit out this evening to adjust the cage/fascia slightly to stop some annoying rattles at motorway speeds, I can't get the damn thing back in. It seems to me that I need to insert the cubbyhole and the headunit together as the lip of the headunit fits nicely into the smaller flat spot on the cubbyhole, but in that case I can't work out for the life of me where I can put the mass of cabling (i.e. VAG-ISO loom and the aerial connector) because once I'm inserting the whole lot I have no control over where it goes and it keeps getting wedged in the wrong place.

Any tips on how to fit it? It's a Kenwood unit for what it's worth, but I think most aftermarkets will have the same problem...

you can put the cubby hole in first with the standard hu then lay they wires ontop pointing the direction you want them to go and wiggle the new hu in ?

Take the centre vents out, you can get your fingers down there and manoeuvre the cables.

Removal of the glove box gives a small bit of access to the side too.

That, good sir, is a top quality idea. Never occurred to me earlier that it would be accessible from there with the vents out. Poor light stopped play earlier, but I'll have a crack at that when I get home from work tomorrow.
