Yes if you raise them the ride will improve more spring movement= smoother ride wound down as far as they will go = hard crashy ride and maybe bouncey as well that brings back bad memories of an old r5gtt .

anybody have a clue ????

as might go back to standard and stick these up for sale given all the hassle they have caused since day one

in fairness they have been terrible am driving trying to avoid every bump pot hole as it feels like you been competing in wwe has given wife problems in her shoulder after only being on 3 months and to be honest never felt anything as bad as this as it just feels like i dont have any springs or shocks :S

Most coilovers wound down very low will give poor ride as the rebound capabilities in the shock/strut is compromised. This will certainly be the case in those cheaper pro sports. They will not be up to the job set low. I had this issue even with weitecs and raised those to get a better ride. My KW's can handle being set low though. So if you want a better ride then yes raise them.

I've just put pro sports on, they seem ok. From what I have learnt from the Vdub scene is that half of the bumps and crashing are about how you drive. People I know who have joms can make them ride just as well as weitecs. Just have to watch where you are going.

Fair enough its best to avoid potholes and like.

However, by avoiding potholes you're not making your coilovers work better - you're just trying to side-step the fact they give a poor ride quality.

or to put it another way

You've reduced the ability of your vehicle to handle the road conditions we are faced with

Given the lack of money spent on fixing our roads, they are going to get a lot worse, so its going to become very hard to avoid potholes, lumpy roads, sunken/raised drains, etc

sorry buddy, but that is just crazy...

The crashy ride is folks have either coilovers wound too low for their working performances or a crud set of cheap coilovers that give folks the ability to make their car slammed but give as much ride support as a brick...

They are not riding the same as weitecs if you are driving like miss daisy and avoiding road imperfections. You don't need to do that with decent coil overs.

If it is all about the look and no ride comfort then get cheap coilovers, if it is about a compromise between a car that is used for kids, work, shopping and distance driving and to look mean then don't get cheap coil overs.

The VRS is a much different handling car than the Vdubs too with a lot less variants of suspension kit's to offer.

My weitecs are set a lil below standard height and swmbo hasn't noticed them after 3 months thank god! lol

And this is from a person that noticed straight away when I fitted the rarb!

They are firmer than standard but not crashy at all

That is a good compromise and the Weitecs are great for that and even just as good a feel as a set of springs and shocks.

I went quite low on my Weitecs and even they could not take it. I have have KW's and up to the job much better. I am about 17mm left of thread on the front platfoms and less than 5mm on the rears

stops the mother in law wanting a lift. Not because to hard , but can't bend down low enough without falling in ......lol.

i have been into vws for a long time, i have a mk2 golf, and a mk1 as well as my vrs and i hear that said....by people who refuse to admit they have bought cheap cr*p and put it on their car. Its their way of refusing to acnowledge they have made a mistake, as they justify it by saying their car looks great, and you have to 'stratigically' choose your route everywhere.

What a load of rubbish...my mk2 is on kws, and i don't need to avoid anything in particular, i can never understand why people spend loads on their cars, and yet scrimp on the suspension. These cheap kits are crashy for a reason, they are not good quality, they may work (for now) but put your car on something half decent, and you will see the difference end of. Any coilover setup thats too low, won't work well anyway, let alone when you have a budget shock in place.

There should be no need to make up excuses for the shortcomings of comfort and handling, or lack of fitting, or need to fit random parts from other cars to make them work either..
