Recommend me a subwoofer and amp?

Featured Replies

Hey guys. Im looking into some better quality speakers and a subwoofer for my mk1 octy vrs! just wondering if any one has any good reccomendations? budget wise, around £100 (for the subwoofer and amp if possible) would be ideal!

Thanks! Dan

£100 wont get you much at all.

Are you willing to go 2nd hand?

I'll have a look and see whats avaliable within the £100 budget though

All in they come to £99.97

To lower the cost try the amp and wiring kit try looking on ebay for JBL GT5 12" or GT4 12". Both subs are very underrated and great for the money.

Alternatively there is this package:

My lad has one in the garage but has never got round to selling it. Removed from his old Mk 3 Golf prior to selling.

Don't expect he'd want that much for it but carriage could be the problem.

Sorry for hijacking your post OP, I'm looking into installing a sub as well, I quite like this: SWE-1200 - 8" (20cm) Powered Subwoofer Any thoughts on this chaps?

I'm currently looking into getting 2 of these.. not sure which but means you still have your boot space :D

Steve (LFC958) has one of these. Sounds quite good, although his is mounted in the boot.

My only reservation with these under-seat jobbies is getting damaged by people kicking them. That notwithstanding I have thought about putting one in The Fun, purely due to lack of anywhere else to stick one.

I came close to going for the under seat option Rainbow, but decided against it for much the same reason. The Fun is restrictive & in the end went the easy route - new HU & upgrade 13cm door speakers. Would like to have gone component to enhance the sound quality ! Be interesting to hear an under seat running to see how much more it gives you? ;)

lol, given that in The Fun, you really can only put it under the driver's seat, I suspect you'd feel how much more it gives you too ;) ;)

IIRC Uma went component once he'd done the electric mirrors. The redundant holes for the window adjusters were adapted for the tweeters.
