Electric windows stopped working

Featured Replies

Hey all since my car had been sat for a good few months the windows have stopped working. I have checked all fuses and tried the key in door aswell as it had a new battery but nothing.

Am i correct in thinking its most likely the drivers side motor/regulator has packed up and needs replacing as it has the sender for them to work as both side do not work of any of the switches. Also vagcom brings no faults up in the system.

Cheers, joe.

Ive had this same problem since just before christmas and still not sorted it.

Ive also tried fuses, key in door etc but still nothing.

I took my car to a local vag specialist who plugged the car in but found no errors. He unplugged the passenger side control unit and the drivers side seemed to work ok (for a bit). Next couple of days it worked fine then stopped again but now its been working for the past couple of weeks.

Only option i can think of now is take it to skoda to see if they have a solution but wont be until end of april at least.

If i have any more info, ill krrp you posted.

Cheers for the info. I have bought two drivers side motors now but both times its been the wrong part after confirming parts numbers with them. Put it to the side at the moment but need to get it done as the severn bridge is abit annoying with the windows not working.

I take it you've already tried the usual fix of putting the windows up, releasing then holding the button in the up position for a few more seconds?

Seems to reset things when the controller get's confused.

If not that...then best of luck, sounds like a right pain!

yes everything. should just be the drivers motor failed not letting them work.

Hi Joe/Mark.

How you getting on with the front windows!? Both mine stopped working in September and only just got them fixed! Now God bless this forum-it's helped with many fixes over the past years, but in this particular case, jiggling with the fuses, holding both switches in the up and down positions, unplugging and refitting the power harness in the door, trying to engage the comfort feature by turning the key in the door lock, searching for any snapped or corroded wires all came to nothing and it was indeed the drivers side window motor motor and control unit that had to be replaced!

On my 2006 ambiente estate the part number is 6Y 2959802 and cost £45 from the local scrappy. If the boys there are to be believed this part which is for electric front windows only is in far greater demand than 6Q 2959802 which is the corresponding part for electric front and rears!

All The Best

Bought my third one yesterday hopefully it will be the correct part and side this time.

Following on from this, I had the same problems, seems to have happened after all the wet weather at the start of the Winter. Since it dried up for a bit a couple of weeks ago they have started working again and still do!!

Bloody annoying but seems to be related to the wet weather.

Cheers

Haha same.

I didnt do anything to mine last winter, they just started working again and have been fine all summer.

As soon as we have this very wet weekend, mine stopped working again too.

How are your window's holding out joe since you put your new part in?

Yer drivers/offside side motor, its has the control ecu in it. Do yours mirrors still work? You could try removing and drying it out an airing cupboard, mine was nakerd though.

They have been fine, reason they went before was because it was under a cover for a few months and it trapped all the moisture and damp in from my leaking doors i think.

my mirrors stopped working a few weeks ago,but i was presuming it was coz id forgot to reconnect them after having my door card off for speaker fitting. . .

so will the mirrors be related to the windows going too?

:(

If the mirrors stop at the same time as the windows it is most likely the comfort control module its behind the dash. Need to iliminate the mirrors not working to be sure though as they cost abit more than the window motor.

ffs :( if that car had balls i would kick it in them.
