Replace ignition barrel to allow use of original key to start car, and get one other key recoded to match? (only have one key with matching barrel)

Re-program existing ignition setup to recognise "new" key code? (If I ever get Vag com cable working on my laptop. )

Can vag-com re-program keys?

Are either of these procedures relevant, Jason? And are you using a shareware or registered version of VAG-COM?

I have my car booked in at Allards on Friday for new turbo, injectors and remap.

Going to try a ramair induction kit too.

Progress is slow at the moment as I've not started yet.

Going to the South West Motorshow this coming Sunday, to put my car on stand, then it'll be officially "worked on"

Denis - good links, But due to a lack of practise with VAG COM, seeing all those instructions scares me. I think I'd rather I paid someone with a laptop & the ability to use it, to come down and code for me.

I have another issue though - I have K's retrofitted remote central locking. How will that be affected. Does it just work from the button, and isn't anything to do with the immobiliser / coding thing?

I'd hate for it to stop working afterwards. Also, if anyone can help me with VAG com in about two weeks time, can they look up how to activate cruise control please? I have a suspicion my install might kick into life with vRS working gear.
