Anybody carry a fire extinguisher ?

Featured Replies

Just wondered if anybody carried one either in the driving area or the boot >

Got a small dry powder one in the boot just in case......

I've got one of those flame beater £12 ones from amazon. Screwed the holder to the drivers side bottle holder thing in the boot. Not sure how effective it would be at putting a person out (would never work on anything bigger!), but it came in black so matched my car.

Have smallish dry powder type for the occasional trip to Europe (normally resides in the Yeti's boot storage box), where carrying one (along with a list of other stuff) is a requirement in some countries.

yup, I bought it for the prague trip last year, still in my boot ;)

No, since Halon was banned they have yet to manufacture an affordable extinguisher that does ‘what it says on the tin’.

(Seen far too many rally cars gutted by fire due to the extinguisher contents not being up to the job)

to be fair, halon is pretty nasty stuff for both humans and the environment even though its a very good extinguishant.

Im not disputing that for a second, although I would be genuinely interested to know what causes the most damage, a Halon extinguisher that puts the fire out, or the burning rubber, oil etc from a car being gutted??

I always have 2 fire extinguishers in cars, one secure in the car and one in the boot.

Not caring about putting car fires out, but right on in there if i thought someone was trapped.

Could not care less which type of extinguisher if a life is at risk.

Act to save the person and take the consequences later if it was the wrong type of extinguisher.

shame there was not one at home when my condensing boiler went up, that is the remains of it at the top.

the smoke alarm is the greatest invention.
