Shark stage 1 remap graph

Featured Replies

Hi all,

As per my thread the other day I had my car on the rollers following the shark stage 1 remap and here is the graph :)post-77676-13623393442296_thumb.jpg

I'd be very happy if mine produced something like that! I have a Shark map and have wondered what the graphs look like! I suppose that way I'd see more of a difference with a hybrid! :)

It's possibly the same map matey, im going hybrid next. Have saved up for darkside developments kit and sent them an email but they haven't replied :(

Hopefully I'm really happy with mine. I noticed a big difference in power and if mines only running 160 bhp I can only imagine was it would be like at 200 bhp +!! What hybrid are you thinking of going for?

I've been stalking that for a while! Thats no hybrid turbo btw mate, I made that mistake. I've already got a down pipe so may send them a message to see what they can do :)

It's funny cos the fabia feels comparable with my old Mini Cooper S in terms of acceleration and yet according to the dyno it's actually 21 BHP down. In terms of 0-60 self timed runs there's only a fraction in it, with the mini being 6.8 and the fab being 7 secs dead

I think it's meant to be better than hybrid isn't it? Think I read somewhere about hybrids being old generation or something...?

Yeh mate it will be better than a hybrid. I may just go for a PD130 hybrid, should come out a bit cheaper as they only cost about £600 to be hybridised. Can't say I've ever done a 0-60 in mine as I get to worried about not being kind to the car haha!

Lol, you'll be fine - just don't start in 2nd ;) I rev mine from standstill to 4.2k for the 7 sec time, that's inc first gear. I know some people short shift with first but that's never worked for me...

Does anyone know if cars (like people) have good days and bad days?

Because the day before the dyno day the car was running really nicely, silky smooth and eager.

But on the day of the dyno on the way down there it felt stodgy and lethargic....like a different car :-/

The dyno said 160 BHP which was in the official predicted range, but the night before id comfortably embarrassed a 170 BHP celica and I couldn't help but feel it could have done better

I'm far to cautious haha. I always short shift in first aswell, I guess its just habbit of driving a derv.

Bump for good days & bad days....

The most important thing is that that looks a stonkingly smooth remap!

As I understand it, GTB turbos (when compared to the GT17xx range as standard on 1.9TDIs) have a better VNT mechanism so they can both flow better on acceleration as well as lag less from idle. So the GTB1749 on there sounds like it has the same size wheels as a stock GT1749 (hence the same model number) but the better VNT mech for superior airflow. And then the GTB1756 will have bigger wheels as well as the improved VNT meaning it'll flow even more.

edit - As for "hybrids being old generation", that statement can't really be true because "hybrid" describes the process, not a definitive part number. So you could also hybrid a "new generation" GTB turbo by fitting bigger wheels and remachining which would be better than both a hybrid GT and stock GTB turbo.
