As the title really. I have mk1 Fabia VRs gearbox that’s been sitting in my garage for a couple of years taking up valuable fishing gear space.

I bought this off a member on here for a mk1 Octavia project that never happened so now it needs to go. Apparently it’s done about 50k but don't know the year of manufacture. It’s never been left outside so has no mildew or rust.

I am looking for £100, pick up from Chatham, Kent.......when I say pick up I mean pick up off my garage floor as I will not be, old and frail don't you know.

It looks grey and dirty but I will put up some pictures if you really want to know what and grey and dirty gearbox looks like.

My old box I assume? It will be from an 05 plate vRS - mileage was about 50k yes, as that's roughly when I did the swap below.

I can vouch it was a good box - the original box my Fabia engine conversion came with, but I swapped out to a Cupra box to get the closed diff in. I've swapped boxes again since!

Judging by the way you Fabia lot race about I would have thought this would have been snapped up at this price as a spare for when yours goes bang.

I take it its the new shorter ratio one? Cant remember what year it was changed.

It isn't the "shorter ratio" box - Its the box which isn't so god damned "long ratio" - From memory, 70mph in sixth was 2100rpm roughly, compared to 1800rpm in the long LONG ratio box.

Looks like this may get melted down and turned into a fridge.

If I had known about this 3 weeks ago my car is currently sat in unit 18 having the gearbox rebuilt with a estimation at around £700 this would have cost a fraction of the price

Do you know what, I don't think it will be. lol

This gearbox is like a hand my down through the Briskoda rankes, never to be subjected to even 1ft/lb of torque.
