Vauxhall Mokka

Featured Replies

Has anyone else seen one in the flesh?

Parked next to one today, and it looks like a full sized 4x4 has been squashed between 2 HGV's

Can't be much worse than the Vx Dave or whatever it's called.

I saw one last week go past me and it did look all squashed up and not right.

Yes, in a light blue, looked quite smart on the road

Yep, went and had a nose at the weekend. Not bad looking from certain angles, but looks strangely narrow and squashed when viewed head on.

The interior seemed pretty nice but its not huge and the tailgate closed with a really cheap sound, plus it's quite pricey for what it is.

There's a joke lurking in the name "Opel Adam"; V@*xh@11 Adam not so much.

Look better than the Nissan Puke, but then that's not difficult!

The lady in the office at work has one, can't say im impressed with it. But the interior space put's alot of bigger cars to shame. And the price, are Vauxhall having a laugh.

STRANGE - I thought it was the Nissan "JOKE"

Being in the top 10 for sales this year doesn't make it much of a joke to me. I'd say Nissan are doing something right...

UK January 2013 – models:

1. Ford Fiesta - 7,906

2. Ford Focus - 5,794

3. Vauxhall Astra - 5,462

4. Vauxhall Corsa - 5,178

5. Nissan Qashqai - 4,280

6. VW Golf - 3,335

7. Peugeot 208 - 2,959

8. VW Polo - 2,885

9. Nissan Juke - 2,522

10. Mercedes C-Class - 2,356

Slightly OT but I saw the Vauxhall Adam on TV the other day...

Fiat 500 copycat IMO.

They are trying to play down the retro thing but they are very similar looking to the Fiat.

They've obviously seen just how many 500s there are out on the road and want

a slice of that sector.

There's the Adam 'Slam' (sporty) the Adam 'Glam' (chic) and the Adam 'Jam' (funky)

Interesting choice of name considering it's clearly a birds car.

Go and have a look at an Adam close up. The interior is much improved over the 500, and the one I saw looked great outside too. I really like the 500 but its starting to look a bit dated now.

Isn't it supposed to look dated?

I thought that was the point?

  • 2 years later...

Thought I'd put this here rather than starting a new topic.

We've just taken the Octavia in for a repair and got a Mokka as a courtesy car.

We insisted on an automatic so managed to dodge the 1.2 Corsa they wanted to give us.

We have a 1.4 Turbo with a 6 speed automatic gearbox (normal torque converter one).

Our initial impressions were good with a decent spec including;

dual zone climate

heated seats

heated steering wheel

auto lights

auto wipers

auto dimming mirror

electric folding mirrors

Bluetooth

It's quite nice to drive with the gearbox being very smooth and actually very quick shifts. The engine is actually pretty impressive. Very punchy and pulls well from low down. It goes like a stabbed rat when you floor it.

That's about where it ends...

Bad bits;

hard seats

small boot

cheap feeling materials

poor design of boot baggage hooks

harsh ride

twitchy steering

I also struggle to get comfortable and felt physically tired after just a 20 minute drive. I can do hour after hour in the Octavia.

So it's alright... but can't wait to have the Octavia back!

Had a look in one on Friday and wife test drove it. Fairly high specification, it's not much longer than a corsa just higher ground clearance. Not my cup of tea but the wife liked it.

I'd have concerns over Vx reliability these days, most of my friends that have had a Vx in recent years have all had relatively serious problems with relatively young cars and little support from the company or dealers.

They've all moved on to other brands now and are finding Renaults etc to be much better than their Vx.

If I was Vx I'd be very worried that people think Renaults are more reliable and comfortable

SWMBOS parents have a Mokka and myself and brother in law both have the Astra 2.0 CDTI, he has the hatchback and I have the Estate, the reliability has been pretty good,  I did have an issue with the brake carriers creating a tapping noise when over rough terrain (Surrey Roads)

Apart from that all three cars have been really good, the only reason I didn't like the Mokka was that I felt the 1.6 petrol engine they specced it with is a bit gutless, but looks nice enough with the light blue colours.

sisters Corsa had the steering rack go then the clutch leaving her stranded both times, friends had endless oil leaks in their Insignia (heard about oil leaks from a few people now) leading to a suggested fix at £1500 (they now have a Juke), mate's VXR went through two engines, both times he had a fight to get it fixed even though it was less than a year old (drives a 320d now).

We have 3 Vauxhall Zafiras at work, the 56 plate one has done 170+ thou hard miles and runs relatively well still, needed some some along the way recently, it's been missing for a few weeks now, shuttle driver said it was shaking badly so has gone for repair.

The other 2 we have are 11 plate ones, they've spent more time at vauxhall than at work, forever breaking, clutches, steering racks, rough running, EGR needing to be cleaned out daily, the list goes on, the latest problem is they keep loosing about 50% power randomly.

The older one somehow manages to be nicer to drive than the newer ones, they're all the same shape but I'm assuming the excoflex motor is different to the older one. Maybe we just have a couple of friday cars but I can see myself buying a vauxhall anytime soon.

I can see why they got rid of their Vauxhalls! Touch wood we have been lucky with ours from the sounds of it...

Both the Mokka and the Astra both drive extremely well and are quite well equipped, but then the reliability of my cars before the Astra has been interesting to say the least :)

My sisters Astra in 3 years from new.......2 gear levers,1 gearbox,3 drivers side window motors,1 front set door seals,1 alternator,2 trips to the paintshop to cure paint defects,2 new batteries and a bag full of interior trim pieces and countless blown fuses..But it started life with a severe handicap.......the curse of the Arnold Clark sticker.

Once upon a time I used to rate Vx quite highly.

I had a Mk2 Astra for a first car which although horrible was essentially bulletproof and could be fixed with 3 sizes of hammer and never let me down in 4 years of abuse. Then I got a Mk3 which although with 25hp more felt slower but was comfortable and again never let me down.

They always had a rep for being dull but it seems only recently that I'm hearing lots of reliability horror stories. Bean counters have won.

First Vauxhall I had to drive was a HA BT van. Hated it.. also been a passenger in an Insigna which I found uninspiring and gloomy inside. last one I had to drive was a 1.4 Astra hire car. Hated that too. Not a fan of Vauxhalls TBH.

Had a slight issue with it earlier.

The dash lit up like a Christmas tree! All the traction control, ABS and brake warning lights etc came on.

Turned off then back on again and now just the tire pressure monitor light has remained... although all tires look fine (pressure gauge is in my car so can't check) maybe just a gremlin in the system. Should hope so as it's only got 6,000 miles on the clock.

Had a voicemail from the body shop and they hope to have it sorted by Friday... can't wait!
