keys won`t sync with car

Featured Replies

Hi I`m lady owner of years with my baby fabia, I had a problem with wiring behind dashboard so removed speedo fixed that problem but now my keys won`t sync back with car, manual says set with 4 digit code but I don`t have it. Is there any other way to fix. Car starts then cuts of after 3 seconds manual says keys not synced, Appreciate any help. Julie

You might be able to get the code from a dealership. Failing that, somebody in your area with vagcom will probably be able to help

Dealers don't have access to codes anymore. VCDS can't read them you'll need VAG Tacho. Personally I'd scan it with VCDS first to see if it's logging anything, did this start after you stripped the cluster to fix it?

First easy stage to "Sync" a key remote that is just "out of sync"...as follows...

lock car using the key in drivers door lock.then unlock the door using the key in the lock and put the key in the ignition and turn the key so the engine check lights on the dash come on (engine still off). Then remove the key and close the drivers door and lock the car using the remote fob.

Usually this happens when you are a distance from the car and the remote buttons get pressed so "out of sync" with the car....so you come back to a "locked "car...so do as follows.....

.....unlock the door using the key in the lock and put the key in the ignition and turn the key so the engine check lights on the dash come on (engine still off). Then remove the key and close the drivers door and lock the car using the remote fob.

That's for the remote locking, from the sounds of it this issue is with the act of starting the car, rather than getting into it. . . "Car starts then cuts of after 3 seconds" . . . which is what happens when the imobiliser is unhappy.

Doh!!!......................

Wayyyyyyy....too much going on at moment in my life............sorry to OP ............

And yep sounds like a VCDS (VAG-COM) or dealership job to re-programe the ecu with the imob code for the keys/transponder.....
