Rear wiper motor

Featured Replies

My rear wiper motor has failed on a 3 month old yeti.My dealer said that they have quite a few being replaced under warranty. There is currently a 2 week backlog on orders for these.

A motor failure on a new car is bad enough,a 2 week wait for the replacement is even more frustrating for you.

From experience parts availability not a strong point with Skoda. Most dealers don't hold stock these days but next day availability (from a distribution centre) is the norm to aspire to.

Can understand it if it was a trim item rarely requested, but not major mechanical/electrical/electronic

items which are prone to fail.

That's Just in Time (OR NOT) for you

But then again neither do any other makes hold much stock, so I think criticising SKoda in that way is a little unfair. A rear wiper motor is not a commonly replaced part.

A friend is Parts Manager at Cheltenham Lexus and he says they only have 2 of each oil filter in stock at any time, and that as long as a part is ordered before 1500 it will be delivered by 0900 the next day. He has even had parts flown in from Japan in 24 hours when a vehicle has been "off the road".

When my car needed a new rear heated screen it was ordered on the Tuesday, arrived at the dealership on the Thursday and fitted on the Friday which is the service you would expect from Skoda.I would not expect any dealership to hold a part like a wiper motor in their stock but to have a 2 week lead time from Skoda central stock is in my opinion not good enough.

Batch problem by the supplier? could be high demand at Skoda CZ(?)
