Scandisk Cruzer USB Drive

Featured Replies

Amazing. I thought I had lost this but the wife has just found it in the washing machine after goodness knows how many laps! Must have left it in some trousers or something. Anyway. After 10 mins on the radiator it still works. Not only that but it also still has all the files on it and they are fine. All 16Gb worth.

Thats a good quality product!

My Kingston one has been through a full cycle in the washing and line dried still in trouser pockets and then went in the wardrobe before I found it again when I put the trousers on for work. Still works fine.

Impressive, but I'd back up the data on it. From personal experience with various mobile phones and one time a laptop  they are normally fine after contact with water so long as they aren't switched on or turned off immediately after contact so they don't short circuit. Obviously being unplugged there was no current going through the drive.

Once fully dry they may work again as normal, but the copper on the chip and other contacts begin to corrode until eventual failure.

In my experience it's about a month, just after you stop thinking 'Lucky me, I got away with that!' :wall:

Tempting fate here but it was about 6 months or more ago and it still works fine. Mind you I keep nothing unique on it, everything is backed up and up and up.
