0% VAT is it likely on the Citigo?

Featured Replies

Hi, is it likely that Skoda will offer 0% VAT on the Citigo, as i am reluctant to buy one, then in a few months Skoda offer no VAT on the Citigo. Any one heard any whispers or anything?

Thanks, Tony.

If sales don't go according to plan ? They might but dont hold your breath for too long :)

I think that the Citigo is selling too well for there to be any other offers at the moment. I'm seeing more and more on the road. 3 more have appeared within less than half a square mile of my house in the last 3-4 weeks.

Highly unlikely. I doubt there is even that much margin in them?

Thanks, for your replys, i see what you mean about it possibly being to popular for the need to discount, and the smaller cars not having that much of a profit margin. But think i will wait for a few more months just in case. No need to rush into it as i have a cheap run around to use.

There's no chance if anything prices will continue to rise, I'm amazed how cheap they are now, if vat was knocked off you would be able to get a base one for under £6k that would be incredible.

No, it's already cheap and if they did VW/SEAT would have to follow suit. As they are all made in the same factory.

It would cost VAG too much.

I agree with the above. I don't see how Skoda could offer such a discount when the up! Mii and Citigo have clearly been priced so closely, are made in the same factory and are all selling so well.

Used prices also seem very strong.

However, Seat do have quite a good offer on the Mii rigth now.

I've just talked through a deal on a new Elegance 75ps model. However, I didn't buy it because the dealer was only able to offer a £200 discount off the new price!! The cost was £11k. What!! In effect, VAG stop dealers giving anything more than a cursory discount in the first year to make sure the car is established as a car with good residuals. It's standard practice for manufacturers to do that. They don't want it to be known as a 'cheap' car. On top of which, if the car is selling very well as the Citigo is there is no real reason for them to offer big discounts.

Shop around I got me elegance 5 door for £9.5k deals can be done

I am sure you are right about shopping around.

Target prices for the up! are about £300 to £400 off and the Mii se is £8990 now.

Discounts of £600 can be had at dealers on the Citigo but i'd imagine theres less profit in a Citigo for them, compared to one of the bigger models in the range?

Indeed - that's what we got (a few months ago admittedly)
