No power to Climate Control console

Featured Replies

As per the subject...

It's probably quite simple...? I have checked all the fuses, not knowing which one, if any, controls the climate contol console and they are all ok but yet I don't seem to have any power, no lights or display let alone fan or heating/cooling.

This follows on from the radio backlight not turning off, which I've just rectified by pulling out and pushing back in, the radio fuse.

Is there a specific fuse for this climate control console does anyone know?... because if there is... perhaps I haven't put it back in straight/fully?

It's dark now, so i cant check anymore so I will check again in the morning.

Hope someone can help with some suggestions...?

thanks

david

Was checking the fuses at the weekend looking for a power source, there is one for the climate, check in your handbook, its near the back and lists the function of each fuse.

Checked all fuses esp fuse 16 (aircon and electric pump) and fuse 25 (fan heater), both were sitting ok and not blown, infact none of the fuses were blown. I was hoping that would be a nice straight fix. There's no specific fuse called climate control btw, I assumed air con was the next best alternative.

The climate control backlight doesn't come on either nor do I have the temperature display on the digital clock/multifuntion display (the one under the Rev counter). The multifunctional display works with the rest of the variables, mpg, time, etc.

The car is out of warranty so no go there but might have to pay a visit to the skoda garage.

thanks

Does anyone know if there's an in-line fuse to the climate control console? as a last resort....

Ok, I've got an update on this as it's still on going.

The 5051 check comes back saying there's no power to the climate control console, therefore it cant check for problems.

There were 2 error codes however, 00562 and 00779, one for the oil/temp sensor and one for the air temp sensor. (Air temp on dashboard incidentally shows "-- oC". ie no temp reading.)

Any ideas so far?

I've been told that it basically needs a full wiring check following the flow of power to the cliamte control console till the break becomes evident, which is a bit of "leave a signed blank cheque please sir" job as even the dash may need to come out. eeek.

The technician did say that the back of the radio looked like it had got HOT, but suggested that they do get very hot, especially on long journeys and that may cause this hot /almost burnt effect? I didnt see this, so cant describe any more.

Any thoughts please as I'm just dreading how much this could cost.

thanks

David

The back of the radio does get very hot, shouldnt affect the function of the climate though.

I assume this is an octy mk1 so you could try removing the controller and check the wiring and perhaps disconnect and reconnect it and see if that makes any difference.

Open ashtray and grasp the upper plastic surround at the bottom and pull gently towards you and is should come off. The controller is held on by 4 torx screws, and remove, disconnect and reconnect. Then refit in reverse, to re-install the dash trim attach the top 1sr then swing down towards the ashtray.

Id say a disconnect and reconnect would be the first thing to do.

Thanks I assume you mean the climate controler, will check it tonight.

btw It's a 51 plate, so mkII?

Hope you still around to answer my questions David.

Did you fix the problem on your missing power to the clima consol?
the reason for me to ask is that I have the same problem as you described, awaiting a visit to the dealer for testing the car’s wiring.

hope you or other is around to give a feed 👍

Hi @Mogwad - from your profile and pictures it looks like you have a mk3 Octavia but this thread is in the mk1 section.

The first thing to check would be the fuses. If it's not that then try having a search in the mk3 section and if the search doesn't show anything up then start a new thread in that section.

Ohh, thanks for info 👍

I repose the problem in mk3 section thanks for letting me know

fuse all good 🤗

I've recently upgrde from manual ac unit to automatic with 2 motors on octavia mk2. Completely changed the whole of HAVC system with all its sensors and motors. Wiring was same on the controller as of the automatic one like plug and play but I see no current passing to climatronic after changing everything. Any suggestions?

My problem was the clima console panel all fuses in the fuse box inside and outside was fine, had good connection.
