Which Factory Options To Spec If Upgrading To Aftermarket? (Fabia II)

Featured Replies

I'm probably about to buy myself a new Fabia II SE 105 TDi and just want some advice on which options to go for; what'll be compatible with an aftermarket unit if I upgrade the stereo in a few months time?

I mean, shall I spec Maxidot, shall I go for the MFSW + telephone option (I presume you get extra buttons on the s/w), is it even worth going for Bluetooth at all if the replacement stereo would do that, and would MDI be helpful etc? I guess I'm asking which options I should forego and put the money towards a new head unit, or shall I just choose them all in case I don't get around to upgrading?

Stereo-wise I was thinking along the lines of the Kenwood 4210DAB, unless you can recommend something else with a better user interface.

Alternatively, seeing as SatNav isn't exactly crucial to me (albeit nice), shall I choose some/ most of the above factory options, stick with the factory Swing radio and consider upgrading just the speakers? Is there any point in doing that? I note that I'm very much into my music and like the idea of having one decent unit that has very good sound, DAB, and integrated Bluetooth, but one that will communicate with other interfaces in the car. NB. I will likely connect-up a dedicated ipod and use a sperate iphone 5 for calls.

Lastly, is the factory-option 'Amundsen' SatNav a better compromise than going aftermarket (i.e. does it have better sound than standard), and what is the 'Kenwood option' that some people talk about on forums.

All advice would be greatly appreciated, because quite frankly I need to order a car now and dealers can't really advise on these things.

Thanks

Mdi will only work with vag units.
