A little warning...Monte Carlo PDI

Featured Replies

Traded the Vrs for the Monte Carlo on Saturday.

Sunday I checked the tyres and wheel nuts (And ensured that the locking nuts operated correctly).

3 wheels had nuts that were just over hand tight...

1 tyre registered 1.5 instead of 2.1......thats a bit low even for a for a LOW profile.....

Apart from that, all seems in order - other than it feels like driving with the handbrake applied after the Vrs, but to be fair - it's being run-in, and we appreciate the difference in cars.

Not tried the Satnav yet, but can see that the features offered are nowhere near that offered by our Superb (££££)

Not tried the phone package either.

With only 150 miles registered it is very easy to display 50-58mpg on this 105bhp 1.6 Tdi and with £20 RFL things can only get better £££££

Check your handbrake holds on a good steep hill. Ours hadn't been adjusted properly when we got it.

Remap it! I did the same option as you, went from mk1 fabia vrs to 1.6 105 monte. Had it mapped after 3 months and now much happier.

Hope you enjoy it, I certainly enjoy driving mine, well when I can get the keys off SWMBO!

Sounds about right makes you wonder if the dealer are actually doing PDI's anymore or if they do the bare minimum and say its ready.

Possibly down to the fact that "Not all Dealers are the same"?

Where did you get it mapped ? How much better is it

That's what in looking to do! Chop the vrs for a monte then map it, mapped its similar performance to the stock 2.0tdi (143ps) cr lump in the ibiza

Pm me about what deal you got on your trade in and on the monte? I need to know I'm getting a good one :-) mike

Ohh forget that I see yours was a mk1 vrs and I'm thinking of my mk 2 vrs

It's much better for the map, it pulls much stronger. When we got the monte there would be overtaking manouvres that would be fine in the MK1 vrs but in the monte you knew the same overtake wasn't possible. Once mapped it was much quicker, more responsive. Another thing noted was on long uphill drags you'd need to drop to 4th after a while if you were in traffic at 50-60 mph but with the map it's not necessary. Wife even says the car is much better for it and she's the main driver of it.

Forgot to add it was mapped at Lincoln Independant VW.
