best way to remove tarnish from engine

hi guys,

My fabia 1 is 12 years old, in really good condition.

I would like to remove the tarnish, oxidation from the engine, may i ask, any advice on this please, not frightened to use a bit of elbow grease.

In terms of oxidisation I think its probably a case of sanding it off rathter than a chemical.

Its something thats annoyed me in the past and I never found a quick fix.
