Does it retain the stored radio stations when off?

If not, it is probably a loose or disconnected permanent live feed to it.

Are you manually turning it off before switching the ignition off?

hi, the radio retains all the stations when the ignition is turned off.I dont switch the radio off when i park up but when i turn the ignition on i have to push in the on/off switch, as ive said when the radio comes back on all the stations and gps info are all ok.

I think a trip to the dealers might be an idea.

As this is a Mark 2 octavia, all the switching is controlled by Canbus and there is no switched supply behind the headunit, all the power lines are always on.

The only thing to stop it switching on/off will be a dodgy connection between the headunit and the canbus gateway or a faulty headunit.
