Pre Remap mods

Featured Replies

I have put this in another section already but I don't know how to delete it so my apologies....

So, my cars going into big fish tuning on Saturday And I was just wondering what I can get done/put on before the map to get the most out of the engine?

So far the car has a better intake, almost like the PD160 that I copied from Joe_vrs_tdi ... I've carried out the elephant mod, it had a full service two weeks ago, and it's getting a 2.5inch straight through exhaust made up this week, is there anything else I could so? Big fish said something about mapping the Egr valve out so no need for a blank...

I have the same issue, I'd need a better exhaust with sports cat and a good quality

CAI and then a map but could go directly to stage 2 and about 330bhp.

Nothing is needed to get the most out of a pd130 except for a clutch.

EGR can be mapped out so it isn't used.

330bhp? What car do you have ?

how is it that some people get 160bhp and some people get up to 170+ or is that to do with the quality of the mapper?

Some pd130 engines are naturally stronger than others, sometimes they'll surprise you by getting like 140+bhp on the rollers from stock.

As you said it's also to do with the map, but don't go thinking that higher power is always indicative of a good mapper. The key thing you want is a smooth Torque curve with minimal 'spikes' which makes for a usable power band.

Edit- it's not the power I want anyways it's a nice smooth torque curve as you said and also I've heard really good things about big fish that's why I chose them..

it is getting a before and after rolling road so hopefully it's a strong one <img src='http://www.briskoda.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/emoticon-0100-smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I'm v local to BFT and have heard good things. Who is doing your exhaust for you? Exhaust-a-fix by any chance?

312mm brakes.. no point going fast if you can't stop it ;)

I have a BFT map, John isn't the most aggressive mapper but his maps are super smooth and pull all through the full rev range

there next on the list dude :)

I also have a bft map but then again mine is proper custom as i have hybrid 150 turbo etc and it does pull like a train like :)

If you rule out the dyno lottery then it's just down to the settings in the maps. Also quality doesnt mean bigger numbers.

Let us know how you get on. I'm thinking of going exactly down the same route in the future, with a BFT map.

ill get the dyno results up on Saturday :)

i forgot what it was called but i am considering doing it before a remap and its that flush thingy i first saw on wheeler dealers. a few on scoobynet have tried and all have reported very good results. think it costs about £90, there are more and more garages doing it now.

engine flush ?

its more than an engine flush, they run 2 types of liquid through the fuel lines , cleans out injectors, valves, pistons and even cat. ive seen it where they do emissions tests before and after. the results are like a brand new engine

its called terraclean
