rear brake upgrade, worth it?

Featured Replies

Hi all

Just wanted to know opinions on upgrading the rear brakes to 256mm, whether it's worth it considering they are the rears etc rather than just getting new stock discs & pads

Thoughts????

If you've not uprated the front brakes to you may be doing more harm than good by increasing the braking power on the rear end.

Remember when you were 11 and used to do skids on your bike? It'll be a bit like that. Except in a car. And there will be brown pants.

Yeah It's worth it. It seems to help balance out the braking a bit, less nose divey. Also they look better.

But make sure you have 312's up front too. That's where the real difference is!

Yes sorry should have said already got 312mm on the fronts,

I've done both front and back upgrade, despite what everyone says I think the back does make a difference overall. I also did the "caliper return spring mod" on the new rear calipers to give a really good feel on the leaver, needless to say...

... I went from small crappy rear brakes that used to stick on... to bigger, better looking rear brakes that perform well and give a nice solid feel to the handbrake leaver in the car. Cost me a tad over £100 with a new pot of red paint for them also :)

I stuck with standard rear size, but upgraded to black diamond grooved and drilled discs and predator pads.

They are a great improvement

Yeh the back is an improvement and def worth it. Also looks ten times better behind the wheel :)
