Glow Plug No2 fault

Featured Replies

Hi

This may be a mad question but it has got me wondering if it's true or not so I know in the future.

Engine warning light on and the fault memory has been checked and is reading that there was a fault on the Glow plug on cylinder No2. Checked glow plug and appear to be good so I have now swapped No2 with No1 and cleared the faults and the engine light has not come back on after a good road test.

I've now been told by somebody that the fault is the DPF fluid is too low and that is why it comes up saying there is a glow plug fault. To me this sounds a bit odd because if that was so why hasn't the light come back on all ready as the fluid hasn't been touched.,

Any ideas and comments are welcome on this please?

Quite possibly correct, but I can only speak for the only Skoda Superb fitted with a DPF requiring fluid injection (the 2.0 140 bhp PD engine), not the vehicle referred to in your signature.

One cause of Glow plug light on is the DPF fluid running low - this will come on and go off as the level drops towards empty, and even as you corner or brake, but will eventually stay on permanently.

Another good guide is the mileage. The tanks require refilling at around 80,000 - to 85,000 miles. So if the vehicle has done that sort of mileage and the light is coming on, it's a good bet that is what is the cause.

( budget around £200 to refill it)
