What the funk?

Do I have to lose my cd changer if i put my pioneer aftermarket stereo in my Vrs?

The pioneer HU won't be able to drive the Octy CD changer. I just play mp3 disks in mine - job sorted.

Yeah mate, bugger is i just got shop of the pioneer changer

U coulda just had it too :(

No big lose IMO. I have an alpine headunit with a built in CD player. Sound quality is really good even on standard speakers. Could be better obviously but worth the hassle of only being able to put one disc in at a time!

Get a head unit with a usb or sd card slot.

Sod having cds of any kind floating about the car

yea my pioneer has connector for my iPhone. I don't really use it for music tho but guess ill load it up. :). So sound will be better then? I n ow speakers in Octavian ain't too good are they, ones in my golf was very good. Bose I think? but I'll buy some from shop later on. how many speakers does the Vrs have anyone know?

Strictly speaking, the sound quality from a iphone or MP3 will be worse than a CD

However, considering the capabilities of the standard car steros, you won't notice much difference.

If you do, you can use a USB memory stick and encode your CDs as WAV files, which won't loose any quality

An additional benefit of not using a CD is that there's nothing to skip when hitting a bump in road

I've fitted it. Only took about 3 mins I'm surprised it worked 1st time lol, you don't think iPhone sounds good? I thought it sounded better and could defo can hear the bass more.

Bonus the bumps don't knock it I agree. :)

For MP3/compressed music players, the iphone/ipods are not too bad, but they do colour the music with their own EQ

Apple know that their devices will be played on headphones/steros/etc which will have poorer reproduction, so they developed an EQ to boost the frequencies that typically get missed by the compression process, and kit through which its played.

Well you seem to know your stuff mate :).

I'm just happy I've fitted it an it works. Lol. :)

Good stuff

Does it charge your phone at the same time ?

If so, double bonus

It's no great loss. The standard unit is lightweight flimsy crap anyway. The Clarion unit I have that I've yet to replace mine with weighs five times as much.

I'm procrastinating though, as my head unit doesn't have any speaker outs and I haven't decided where to stuff an amp, although I think front passenger footwell against the firewall, or hanging underneath the passenger side dash are going to have to suffice as placement.

This is why the first generation 20 and 30Gb iPod's are very popular still, as they are a lot more natural than all that came after it. Of course, most of them are dead and discarded by now I expect.

I've got mine on the side of the boot ride into the cubby hole...coincidently in a similar place to the old CD 6 disc changer. The subwoofer is then hidden in the spare wheel which is upside down.

best place imo, used to have mine there.

Alas, that's where my backup guitar amp head sits very tightly. I can't afford to lose any boot space at all. Hence my self imposed planning issue. :D

On the other side ? Lol.

Should be space under one of the seats i expect.

No it don't charge phone at same time. I've got a USB to plug in lighter an a extra long charging lead tho so that will do. Might put lead under centre console to hide it all. :)

Excellent. Nice squashy seats with white bases that'll get stained as soon as Elliot drops chocolate all over them. They'll fit the bill perfectly. How about we do a straight swap? Perhaps I should give you some cash for the added benefit of gaining some underseat space back... :D

souns perfect to me
