DSG might have more to do with it than tyres. I've gotten my VRS through some horrendous stuff on summer tread over the years.

Can anyone recommend what size rims would be best? Cleary to save on costs the smaller the better, I take it 16" is the minimum but what about the other dimensions? If you're going for steelies, whether they're 16's or 18's, they're gonna look gash so you might as well save some cash

If you use the search tool for complete wheels on mytyres it will give you all the sizes that are applicable to your car.

I downgraded from 18 to 17 and fitted Goodyear Vector All Seasons. Great in all conditions so far, from 15c tarmac through slush, ice, cold driving rain and 6" snow.
