Losing mpg?

Featured Replies

Hi all.

My petrol was on red down to 10 miles left ,

I put £25 in an it gave me 125 miles, so I reset my miles So i could check, an now after few days It says i have 35 miles left an clock says ive done 64 miles, so according to that I've lost 26mpg, anyone else the same or had this?

Don't really understand the different things on the cars computer ,

Thanks

Mike

You don't measure fuel consumption like that :) Your car estimated tank range based on previous driving style and consumption, if that was 400 miles of 70mph motorway cruising and then you do the rest in short runs, stop/start city traffic it'll drop like a stone.

You've lost 26 miles of estimated range, that's not the same as 26mpg. Measure a few tanks by logging the amount of fuel in ltrs. price paid total and the distance you cover, make sure you measure it on brimmed tanks and then you can calculate mpg, cost per mile etc.

Seriously???

Daftest thread this year.

Hummm, to the OP, you seem to be guilty of "mishandling" the available information.
