Skoda Fabia VRS runs for 5 minutes then fails on cold winter mornings

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a Skoda Fabia VRS which I love to bits but I am one problem that is really bugging me and cannot seem to find the answer. On cold mornings usually below 4 degrees The engine starts with now problems what so ever and off I drive, almost exactly 5 minute into the journey the engine falls , it feels as if it is starved of fuel. I pull over and turn the engine over at this point the first attempt fails and the oil light bleeps and shows, I stop and try again and after about 4 seconds the engine splutters back to life and runs fine for the rest of my 20 mile journey into work. This only seems to happy in the mornings after the car has been parked on the driveway after a cold winter night and I have no problems when the weather warms up.

I have just had the car fully services changing the fuel filter and ran a diagnostics check which did not find any current of logged faults. I have used fuel additive and have flushed through with the more expensive diesel but the problem continues.

On the coldest if mornings he coolant light sometimes comes on at the initial Start, I just turn the engine on and off again which clears this light.

I am hoping that somebody knows the answer to my problem and can help me saving me further morning of misery in the cold.
