DPF CHECK WITH VCDS

Featured Replies

Hi chaps, just checked out my dpf :wall:

Could someone decipher this for me??

Ignore the temps the car had been parked up for 2 hrs

18:28:12 Group 075: Particle Filter (Exhaust Gas IV)

56.5°C Temperature bef. Turbo Charger

58.5°C Temperature bef. Particle Filter

28.4 % Particle Filter Load Coefficient

23.2°C Temperature after Particle Filter

18:28:12 Group 068: Particle Filter (Exhaust Gas II)

28.4 % Particle Filter Load Coefficient

30.89 Particle Filter Carbon Mass

-9.4 % Carbon Mass Learned Value

18:28:12 Group 070: Particle Filter (Regeneration Status II)

00000000 Status 4 Regeneration

471.8 s Regeneration Time (Total)

1.0 Failed Regenerations

0.0 Successful Regenerations

Is my dpf stuffed???

Under bock 75 it is telling you the soot content is 28 percent which should be OK. In the second block the ash content looks OK, iirc 60g ash means its full. As for the third I presume it was doing a regent when you stopped or had been at some point before.

Spot on trudlenut, was running rough when i turned it off so must have just started a regen.

I presume it had got part way through as 28% isn't high enough to trigger a regen.

45% is needed to initiate an active regen.

31% ash means there is plenty of life in the DPF yet.

I assume on that graph that 45g equates to 100%.

I don't know for sure, that would make sense. Annnoyingly all the VAG literature quotes grams, yet VCDS reports it as a percentage.

Though the ash content is reported as grams isn't it?

Hi Guys,

I wonder if I can wade in here and ask for some help. Following the advice and guidance already posted in this thread, I believe that after carrying out a diag and forced regen the information obtained is telling me the following

I used both the Measuring blocks and Advanced Measuring Values on the Engines module controller to obtain data.

A member in this forum has experienced his DPF indicator intermittently showing on the instruments cluster,

After reading LOC 068 these were obtained:

5.5%                                      87.17                                   0.00%

Carbon Load Coefficient       Carbon Mass                       Carbon Mass Learned Value

LOC 075

171.5'C                                 301.4'C                              5.5%                                580.8'C

Temp Before                         Temp Before                     Carbon Load                    Temp After Particulate Filter

Turbo Charger                      Particulate Filter                 Coefficient

I forgot to save the data for LOC 070 but from what I do have am I right to think the Carbon Mass is at 87g? suggesting the DPF is gubbed?
