Vrs pd130 engine oil

Featured Replies

I know this may sound like a bit stupid but what is the exact oil I should be putting in my car. I just serviced it myself and used castrol 5w30 edge which is what my local Skoda dealer recommended. I feel that's a bit of a thin oil to be putting in a diesel. Am I wrong?

Go to the dealer and ask for the proper stuff for your reg plate.

Its made by quantum and is what a dealer is meant to use.

Its relatively cheap but is 100% perfect.

There is no reason to use anything else.

castrol edge should be 505.01.

i personally prefer a 5w-40 as it doesnt thin out so much at higher temps

Agreed.

Quantum Platinum (VW 505.01) or if you want to splash out on the variable servicing stuff.....Quantum Longlife III (VW 507.00). All the oil you'll ever need for a PD engine!
