Rear wiper fuse

Featured Replies

Hi all. I have a rather annoying problem with my octavia. The rear wiper fuse blew about a week ago, and I have just discovered that it only seems to blow when the boot is shut. I have tested it with various other electrical connectors disconnected, such as the boot lighting and central locking unit, but the fuse still blows. Any ideas?

How is the loom where it passes between the tailgate and the main body of the car? Maybe the insulation has failed and it is shorting out when the boot is shut.

Could be a wiring problem where the loom goes from the body in to the boot lid, have you tried disconnecting the motor and trying it?

I will investigate the loom in more detail tomorrow, and let you know what I find. One thing I did wonder about was if it could be anything to do with some work I had done a few weeks ago. I had the rear bump stops and front lower arms replaced at a Skoda dealers. None of it is electrical, obviously, but I do wonder if they may have disturbed something. However, I can't think the wiring for the wipers would be anywhere near the suspension .

That would seem unlikely, but you never know....
