Can this be polished out?

Featured Replies

Okay guys, first off the car is 12 years old and i got no idea if it has ever seen any proper polishing or waxing other than the stuff in the automated car washes. Decided i would use the opportunity next week and do it myself by hand. But today while passing by the passengers side i seen some spots on the roof.

Here is the pic: image.jpeg

Also do you guys think SONAX products are good because atm i can choose between that and EAGLE ONE but the second one is kinda out of my budget. I was thinking of getting this one http://www.sonax.com/Car-Care/Products/Exterior-Paintwork-and-Chrome/(so)/26/(node)/16249/296341-SONAX-Polish-Wax-COLOR-Nano-Pro

If its bird lime then you might get lucky but you would have to use a proper cutting compound! As opposed to t cut etc

Cutting compound? Sorry i'm a bit noobish on some terms.

Try something like peek or Autosol, should work.

Might aswell ask the guys at work they do some small bits of body repairs they might have it cheers for the info

theres some cutting in stuff called G3 try that

All a bit aggressive by hand. You need a multi stage polish otherwise if you use something like g3 or tcut, you will leave marring which will blemish the paint on the sun. Try poor boys ssr 1 or 2 it is a 1 stage polish which you could use by hand.

what ever you do, do not use T Cut!!

3m green compound with a heavy pad, followed buy 3m yellow and a med pad. gently use these on a DA or such likes and finish it off with fine compound and a polish.

Job done :)

Thats ok if you have a polisher and want to spend £30+. http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/scholl-concepts-a15-plus-cat9.html This should do it all. Cut, polish, refine.

Asked the guys at work today if they got anything that i can give a shot with at this and they told me to just try and polish it out and if it doesnt get out they will do it for me in exchange for a 6 pack.

If the lime has eaten right through the clear coat and reacted at the paint surface underneath - it can't be polished out, that's why you need to clean bird poop off quickly.

If it's just surface staining, then any old polish should work.
