Columbus Updates, are they ever free?

Featured Replies

More help please........

My Superb is almost a year old (end April '13) & has maps version #7690 installed.

From other posts here & also looking at a current car, the most recent version is #7918.

Am I entitled to any free upgrades from Skoda (via a dealer or with an upgrade DVD?) in the 1st year of registration &/or in the 2nd & 3rd years also?

I'm aware that it's been stated that there is a new upgrade due out sometime in April, perhaps if that is so I'b be advised to wait until then?

(Assuming that a "free" upgrade is a possibility!)

TIA, DC.

I have had my Superb Elegance since October 2009. Each time it has been serviced at the dealer I have asked them to update the maps to the latest available version. each time it has been done free of charge.

Thanks for your advice, I've yet to find a dealer that knows what I'm talking about!

I shall be asking a few questions with other dealers afters the holidays are over.

My experience is that you should get the firmware updates for free, also possible to download and install yourself if you know what you're doing, see various other threads on here, but maps are not generally free unless you get a very kind dealer! Although, I heard that on the Octy III, the car comes with 3 years of free map updates too!

Yep you do get three years map updates for free on the Octy 3. I think you just update the SD card yourself via a website.

Thanks again guys.

I've been offered an update from a dealer from their DVD for £50, & I think that's the way to go.

Probably best postponed until the next version of the DVD has been msde available to them?
