Disadvantiges of a remap?

Featured Replies

Hi was thinking of having my vrs remmaped as heard good things about it. What are the bad points? Apart from the insurance increase! Do i need to upgrade anything else with it? Cheers

Wrong forum sorry

Stress on other components

Wear tires quicker

Wear brakes quicker

Harsher on transmission

Increased clutch wear

Increased turbo wear

Basically increased stress on everything lol!

BUT for that extra grin factor who cares :)

Moved for you.

dual mass flywheel will suffer due to extra torque but a solid light weight replacement will solve that.

Once you start modding its had to stop!!!! but thats the fun of it i suppose

Increased loss of money for fuel, due to not being able to keep your foot off the go faster pedal :)

Let the modding begin as I'm sure you will fall into the same position as many of us on here, saying I will only remap it. Then it's a downhill spiral.

But in all honesty like others have said it does put extra strain on major components, but parts are getting a lot cheaper if things do break.

There are no bad points.............simple

If your car is in good working order and regularly maintained and serviced you should not have adverse effects.

My car has now got 150,000 miles and running Shark stage 2 and still going strong.

Had no problems with remap apart from it finishing my already tired clutch off,

G60 flywheel and VR6 clutch solved that problem

Go straight to stage 2 because you will end up doing it anyway, this way is cheaper in a long run :giggle:

FMIC, 2.5"+ Downpipe,BMC or K&N filter, silicone TIP, Forge 007 DV, 4bar fpr, Cupra R fuel pump, upgraded disc and pads and good remap.

Optional: LSD, SMF conversion

If driven normally, a remap will actually be better for an engine.................... But who continues to drive normally????
