Holiday Romance

Featured Replies

We arrived at Salzburg airport today for our holiday expecting to get a little golf 4x4, but surprisingly, we got a new (100km on the milometer) Yeti 2.0 4x4 :) Very impressed so far, especially with its winter tyres, I just hope I get to use the off road button :D

Glad you like the Yeti, reminds me of the trip with ours to Austria in 2011 but we took the train into Salzburg rather than drive in. Noticed while out there the Yeti appeared very popular, even in only it's second year of production (saw far more in a week than in over a year in the UK).

No doubt that's true of highland Austria. However, in a week in Vienna recently, I saw very few Yetis.

I did see a huge number of other makes of car on black steel wheels and no wheel trims at all to go with the compulsory winter tyres. Nobody in that stylish capital thinks black steel wheels need dressing up.

I can remember in the summer in Salzburg there were many Land cruisers working as taxi's, so they obviously don't do half measures. The closest Kasper the Yeti and I got last summer was just over the border in Berteschgadenland, and then we headed into Austria towards Innsbruck. Unlike my previous trip a few years ago, where after Salzburg I carried on to Vienna.

The Yeti is of perfect size and capability for those alpine roads.
