Adding Heated Seats - Mad Idea ?

Featured Replies

Have a 1.6CR Elegance in 60 plate guise.... the first owner did not add the lovely heated seats to the spec.... can this be done or really is it something that can only be practically be done when new ?

I seem to remember a thread on here before about this but cannot find it. If I remember correctly one big issue was putting the elements in the seats and that base only was possible, the lower back was more difficult.

Not sure if the standard loom will support it.

I got a heated seat cover from Aldi a few months ago for about £10, it does the trick. Only thing is, don't leave it plugged in over night, it doesn't do the battery any good!

Wow, i think my first thoughts were correct. I don't want covers etc, it has to be original or nothing i am afraid. I think i will drop this idea and next time ensure my car has them fitted by the previous owner or not buy it at all. Thanks for the help.

The next car I get I will want them installed.

It can be done, I've fitted carbon, 3 setting heater pads in the seats on my car. It's quite labour intensive and would cost a lot if you had to pay someone to do it. If you want original, there will be a lot of expense on wiring, control units and wiring them in.
