Problem is that when the unit was fitted everything worked fine other than the maxidot display.

So with some help did the following

No 19 on can gateway ticked installation list to show navigation installed.

This immediately showed the navigation option on the maxidot display, but as soon as you came out of the connection the navigation option was lost.it appeared not to save it.

So on looking around it was seen that

No 37 navigation coding 07.

Long coding helper bit 0-7

Was showing 00 sound system not installed

So changed it to

02 skoda sound system can display

And everything seemed to work.

Drove home and left the car overnight and now this morning navigation is working fine but media does not have any sound and no recognition of cd titles or memory card.

It is as if everything was working and no changes took place whilst radio unit was in standbye mode. On leaving it overnight it fully powered down and on restart it changed the radio setting to the skoda sound system, which perhaps is not the correct one (yeti).

Anyone any ideas. Also I believe BAP is relevant but couldn't locate it yesterday.

if you don't, you need to remove it from the columbus coding. (When the car was locked the system shutdown) after coding you need to reboot for changes to take place.

'Sound system' is generally sold as additional speakers. In reality, it also includes upgraded speakers, amp, & unlocks graphic equalizer, surround sound optimisation, etc.

If you don't have it fitted, I'm guessing you shouldn't tell the system you have as you're not directing audio output to the amp.

Install the navigation in can installation list. Reset the columbus. < > plus the mic

Then do the coding with 37 /navigation/ step by step.

Start with no sound system, then with 4 speakers, and the rest /whatever is fitted in your car/. Save the coding.

Turn off the ignition and turn it on again. Should work properly.

If not post me your vin and the white sticker from the boot and I will try to help you.

Thanks guys. I think the problem was the change initially to add navigation in can installation wasn't sticking because we didn't reboot columbus. .Sound was working fine initially. Because it didn't stick we changed the sound system to skoda which we shouldn't have. It worked then but as soon as I left the vehicle overnight the columbus rebooted and looked for skoda sound system. Should have left it as no system installed and rebooted then and I suspect everything would have been fine.

Does that make sense to you.

i have i big problem with my Columbus radio... I changed from Bolero to Columbus and everything worked fine just sound quality was bad...so i try to do as you write above - gone to 37 NAvigation and on an on...but now something happened....there is no sound at all...i try to do something but no gain... Can anybody please help me an write what to do?! Failure in Navi and radio - i know for Gps antenna - because i am waiting for it....when i connect antenna it will be cleared... but everytihg else?! Can Getaway?!

Microphone may be wired incorrectly for voice control, but shouldn't make much difference.

I'll bet the faults on the mic and antenna (excepting the fact you don't have the antenna connected) will go away if you clear them as they are left over from the cables being unplugged during fitting.

Do you have the Digital Sound System fitted?

If not, go to 19-CAN gateway and untick it. Clear fault codes (having saved a full scan copy first) and reboot the Columbus (press <, > and mic).

If it is already unticked, go to the Radio or Navigation module (they are the same) and deselect Digital Sound from in there. Then reboot the Columbus.

Your RNS-510 is configured for SEAT. If you don't have an active sound system (which I believe you don't) and if you have four speakers (which I believe you have), you have to change the coding to: 04000400010000810000

Thanks for all comments, suggestions and solutions....however i managed to get sound back...It was necessery to unclick SoundSystem from CAN Getaway , then select wolkswagen (dont know why, because i have skoda) sound system , and dont know how it worked...

 

Does enyone have a suggestion why?
