Accelerator Pedal

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I Finally picked up my Fabia and I now have it, but I have noticed that the Accelerator Pedal is Really Unresponsive. I done a Search On the Net and have found that most early petrol Fabia's suffer from a "Lazy Throttle Response", Is there anything that can be done to fix it? , because it feels really strange, especially when learning to drive.

Can anyone comment?

Not a clue sorry - I did spot the post but I've not personally been the driver of a petrol Furby as of yet, and the diesels I've driven were the PD100 and the vRS, which didnt seem slow to respond.

Does it respond slowly or does it just need more revving? I have no clue how much torque that engine has but it being a petrol I'd expect it would need 3.5k-4k to start doing work, below 3k I'd expect to get virtually zero response in comparison.

Isn't this just a fly by wire symptom?

I've not noticed it on mine, but then I guess I adapted to whatever lag it may have had when I first started driving it, and you simply adapt your throttle timing to suit the needs of the time.

I think mine is damned responsive now though.

May just want the thottle valve resetting. needs VAG COM to do this or dealer equipment.

It's more a case of ... how can I put it? ... numb response. ie You press the pedal, car thinks about it then decides you really do want full throttle as you've had it down for a while now and eventually gives it you. It's all to do with exhaust emissions apparently.

I drove an 8v Fabia when they'd just come out as a hire car for a day and it was sort of annoying but I learnt around it after a while. I have driven Corsa's that had it worse however. The throttle response felt razor sharp when I got back in my Bora.

Hmm - perhaps I never get it as I tend to feed in the throttle progressively, rather than dropping it down to the floor. Dunno if doing this kinda thing would help or not in the petrol, worth a shot?

Sorry, might not have been clear - I was on about the 1.4 8v above.

vRS is a different kettle of fish being a turbo diesel. I've not had any drive-by-wire silliness yet just good old fashioned turbo-lag :D

Wont get the turbo lag thing but I used to really have to rev the nutz off my Rover 100 with its poxy 1.1 petrol engine to get it to shift. Drop the pedal to the floor below 4k was hit and it would pick up very, very slowly.

That said, hopefully a little VAGCOM session with someone experty will help you (nope, not me as I'd probably break both it & your car, which would be bad ;) )
